Mystic Seaport Museum is a leading maritime museum on the Mystic River in Mystic, Connecticut, where "the sea tells the story of our past, present, and future." The museum preserves ships, boats, and seafaring heritage within a recreated 19th-century coastal village, complete with a working Preservation Shipyard. Visitors can immerse themselves in real-life experiences, getting out on the water and exploring the trades, vessels, and stories that connect America to the sea.
Exhibits and Things to Do
There is so much to see and do that visitors can easily spend a full day exploring:
- Historic vessels including the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world
- The Preservation Shipyard, where visitors can watch period-accurate trade demonstrations and boat restoration
- Exhibition galleries featuring shows such as Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO Bricks, Monstrous: Whaling and Its Colossal Impact, Fish and Forrest, the Benjamin F. Packard Cabin, and Figureheads and Shipcarvings
- A recreated Seaport Village of historic buildings, plus on-the-water experiences and a marina
- Family activities, the SeaClass education program, events, and the steamboat Sabino

The museum is open daily, generally from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is easily reached by car, train, or boat.
